The Herschman Culture

Annual Company Picnic
The annual HA summer picnic changes location from year to year, always with a new theme and agenda. This year was our first Luau; employees and their families came together for a full day of sunshine, games, good food and plenty of Hawaiian regalia.

Annual Halloween Party
A tradition which stems back to 1998, the HA annual Halloween party has grown to become a major event on our calendar. To celebrate, the entire office dresses in full costume for a day of work, food, contests and prizes.

Annual Golf Outing
Every year employees bring clients to our annual golf outing which includes a golf scramble, lunch, dinner and prizes. Even the most amateur golfers will enjoy the team competition and relaxed atmosphere.

Canstruction® 2009
HA annually sponsors, organizes and participates in this creative national food drive. Employees design and build 10’ x 8’ sculptures entirely out of canned food items and compete against rival architecture, engineering and construction firms in Cleveland. At the close of the event, all food is donated to the Cleveland Food Bank.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
A new Halloween tradition this year, all employees interested in participating are provided a pumpkin to carve into any design their imagination conjures. Prizes are awarded for creativity and ingenuity.

Cleveland School of the Arts
HA initiated a program with the Cleveland School of the Arts several years ago to foster architectural appreciation for Cleveland’s inner city youth. For one semester a year, staff members volunteer to create the curriculum and oversee weekly classes which create interest and opportunity in architecture.

Sports Leagues
Sports is a common theme at HA; leagues such as golf, softball, basketball and bowling occur all year around and offer opportunities for employees to spend quality time together away from the office.

Take Our Daughters & Sons To Work Day
Herschman Architects and its employees participate in the annually recognized day by inviting the daughters, sons and relatives of the firm to participate in interactive learning activities to serve as role models as inspiration for our future generations, and to become aware of the skills needed to be hired in specific professions.
